Leedstickets.com is the official box office website of Leeds University Union (LUU), home of Leeds' legendary live music venue, The Refec, and the award winning nightclub Stylus. Our aim is to give you the full run down on all of our events and to bring you low booking fees on tickets for the biggest gigs and club nights in Leeds as well as access to tickets to ground-level student society events here at the Union.
The 2100 capacity Refectory has played host to the most important acts around since the late 1960's, including Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, The Jam, Elton John. Perhaps the most famous live recording ever made, The Who Live in Leeds, was recorded in The Refectory. This seminal recording is now classic rock and roll, proving what heritage the Refectory has. Return of The Who in 2006.
More recently, Leeds Uni has played host to the likes of The Strokes, Basement Jaxx, Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, James Brown, The Streets, Mark Ronson and Queens Of The Stone Age. All of our Refec gigs and most of our club nights are open to non-students as well as students; please check the terms and conditions prior to purchase of your ticket.
The lower ground levels of Leeds University Union play host to a club suite of three venues which may be used as standalone venues, or in conjunction with one another as required. Following a refurbishment in 2006 to improve the sound, light and functionality of these venues, Stylus Mine and Pulse at LUU are highly sought after spaces for club nights and live shows alike.
Stylus opened its doors in 2001 and became the British Entertainment and Dance Association's Student Union Club of the Year 2002-03, and again in 2006-07. Stylus hosts a plethora of regular club nights including the award-winning student night Fruity, Wax:On, Brighton Beach and The Wendy House. Stylus also has full live music capabilities and has recently featured performances from artists as diverse as Hercules & Love Affair, The Enemy, Maceo Parker, 2ManyDJs, The Wailers, The Maccabees, SClub and Roni Size.
Mine is the Union's newest venue, opened in October 2005 and has a capacity of 450. Mine hosts a wide variety of monthly club nights ranging from Northern Soul to Indie and Drum n Bass, as well as live events under the Ulive banner including shows from Futureheads and Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip. Mine may also be used in conjunction with Stylus as a second room to increase capacity and diversify a club night's music policy.
Pulse has a capacity of 350 and works well as an auxiliary DJ venue to events in Stylus or Mine. This room can also be used as a venue on its own to host club nights, stand up comedy shows and is a popular space for University society socials.
