Sergeant, Cut Off Your Hands and special guests

Mine, 29 September 2008 at 8.00pm
£5.50 (includes booking fee of £0.50 per ticket)

Presenting an evening of some of the hottest breakthrough bands this year playing live in the intimate surrounds of Mine.

Indie four-piece Sergeant have been garnering praise from left right and centre. After signing with Mercury Records in 2007, the band played both T in the Park and Glastonbury festivals and have attracted a fanbase and media attention extending well outside their Scottish base. Xfm Scotland’s Jim Gellatly has marked the band as one of his favourites for 2007 and they have recently drawn further praise from former Creation Records boss Alan McGee. The NME have likened their latest release to "…summer bursting out of a fruit and barley bottle, "K Ok" is the most perfect jingle-jangle pop anthem we can imagine being penned."

Also on the bill are Cut Off Your Hands, otherwise known as Nick Johnston (vocals), Michael Ramirez (guitar), Philip Hadfield (bass), and Brent Harris (drums). The Auckland based band include Gang of Four, The Cure, Death From Above 1979, Whirlwind Heat, Joy Division, Split Enz, and James Chance & The Contortions among the chief influences on their skittering brand of proto-punk styled indie rock. Their self produced debut EP “Shaky Hands” was released in August 2006 on Speak N Spell, and includes the singles “You and I” and “Expectations.”

Keep your eyes peeled for details about a special guest to be added to the line up…. you won’t be disappointed!
