<title>Summer Ball Golden Tickets Launch Event with Rox &amp; LUU Danceband - 16 Mar 10</title>
<link>http://www.leedstickets.com/eventinfo/2042/Golden-Tickets-Launch</link>
<description>The Leeds Summer Ball 2010 will take place in the sumptuous grounds of Lotherton Hall on the outskirts of Leeds, Friday 4th June from 6pm-6am. This black tie event with a festival feel is open to all students over 18 from the Leeds area and their guests, and will see 8,000 revellers celebrating the end of the academic year and for some the end of their University career. The green field site at Lotherton Hall will play host to four music arenas, plus plenty of other attractions including a free funfair and bars and food stalls serving throughout the evening.
When purchasing your Summer Ball tickets from 17th March, you will need to state which carriage time you wish to opt for to take you up to Lotherton Hall. To avoid having to make this choice in advance, we have 500 golden tickets available which allow you to catch any carriage leaving Parkinson Steps for Lotherton Hall (every hour on the hour from 6pm-11pm inclusive). The popular carriage times (8pm and 9pm) will sell out within 24 hours of being on sale; with our Golden Tickets offer you will be able to guarantee your place on a sold out carriage time, or give you and your friends the freedom to make up your mind nearer to the Summer Ball about your arrangements.
Golden Tickets are priced at the priority price of &amp;pound;37 each. There is no limit on how many Golden Tickets you may purchase at one time. You will need to present your student card upon purchase (cash, cheque or debit/ credit card accepted). Please note if you are paying by credit/ debit card then it will be subject to a &amp;pound;1.50 booking fee per ticket on top of the ticket price. There is no booking fee for cash or cheque purchases.
To buy your Golden Ticket, please come to The Terrace in Leeds University Union from 9pm Tuesday 16th March for the launch event with live bands and entertainment; the tickets themselves will be on sale from midnight until 2am. We will not be selling Golden Tickets after 2am 17th March and they are not available to buy online.
Appearing at this prestigious event will be Rough Trade Records&amp;rsquo; fast rising and hotly tipped new signing Rox, performing material from her widely anticipated debut album Memoirs, set to be released in June. Her new single My Baby Left Me is produced by Al Shux, who produced and co-wrote the current smash Empire State Of Mind for Jay-Z &amp;amp; Alica Keys. Rox has, in recent months, been consistently tipped as one of the future stars of 2010, with The BBC Sound of 2010 Poll, MTV, HMV, The Independent, The Sunday Times, and MOJO magazine all picking her out as a star that is set to make a huge impact this year. Prior to even releasing any music, Rox was asked to perform two tracks on Later with Jools Holland and released debut single No Going Back in late December, which has enjoyed heavy rotation and support from Radio 1, Radio 2 and 1Xtra. Appearing alongside Rox will be the LUU Dance Band.
This event is free entry and open to any student from any year of study.

<title>Alphabeat + support from Eliza Doolittle - 19 Apr 10</title>
<link>http://www.leedstickets.com/eventinfo/2032/Alphabeat</link>
<description>Popjustice called them 'the best band in the world ever' - and this 6 piece will more then live up to the hype. Already firm favourites on the European festival circuit, their debut album 'Alphabeat' has gone platinum in their native Denmark. A winning combo of infectious feel good pop and memorably energetic live performances.
Support comes from Eliza Doolittle, whose influences stretch from Stevie Wonder and Minnie Ripperton to Destiny&amp;rsquo;s Child, Joni Mitchell and Arctic Monkeys. Eliza, meanwhile, describes her style as a culinary mix of soul-felt pop in the old skool sense, with a little fruit, spice, sugar and nuts.

<title>Damnation presents: Deathfest - The Second Coming - 2 May 10</title>
<link>http://www.leedstickets.com/eventinfo/1974/Deathfest</link>
<description>Mexican extreme metallers BRUJERIA and New York death veterans IMMOLATION will headline 'Deathfest - The Second Coming'.
Fans can also expect a rare live appearance from Brummie grind/black/punk purveyors FUKPIG, northern death metallers DAWN OF CHAOS, and the heavy doom of VOLITION, as well as 11 other bands across two stages at the Damnation Festival backed event in Leeds University Union, Bank Holiday Sunday, May 2.
And in a bid to beat the financial gloom, tickets for the all-day festival will be priced at an unrivalled &amp;pound;10 until the end of January.
Deathfest director Gavin McInally said: &amp;quot; It's a great double coup landing both Brujeria and Immolation to headline our second Deathfest and we're sure they'll provide a suitable soundtrack to the choas which will undoubtedly unfold in Leeds this May.
&amp;quot;Putting festival tickets on sale for less than most gigs is a first class lesson in financial suicide, but it's important that money, or the lack of it, isn't a reason to stop fans getting along to Deathfest and if we can pack the venue again, it'll be a gamble worth taking.
&amp;quot;Similar to last year, we'll have a main stage, again sponsored by Terrorizer magazine, which will be dominated by death metal from home and abroad.
&amp;quot; And to break the tempo up and offer a little diversity over the course of the day, we'll have a selection of doom, black, grind and filthy noise on the second PHD Stage.
&amp;quot;So grab a ticket while they're dirt cheap, grab a hotel room while they're dirt cheap and come along for a first class day of extreme metal!&amp;quot;
Tickets are on sale now priced at &amp;pound;10 until 9am, Monday 1st February, and &amp;pound;19 thereafter.

Bonobo - Black Sands
Simon Green aka Bonobo returns with his fourth, most eagerly-anticipated and most accomplished album to date, the magnificent &amp;quot;Black Sands.&amp;quot; Green proves once and for all with &amp;quot;Black Sands&amp;quot; that he is an artist and producer with his sights set on much higher prizes than to rule any dusty subgenre of dance music. This is a record of epic reach and massive emotional pull, all held together by Green's understanding of composition and arrangement of live instruments (most of them also played by him) as well as his complete mastery of the tricks and techniques of the digital age. &amp;quot;Black Sands&amp;quot; is the most contemporary record he has ever made.
Since Simon Green's last album, &amp;quot;Days To Come&amp;quot; he has become one of Ninja Tune's biggest artists worldwide, with over fifteen million plays on Last.FM and a series of sell out tours with his live band which have moved from venues such as the Luminaire to the Kentish Town Forum and the Roundhouse. This combination of superb live shows and studio wizardry means that he is now perfectly placed to push on into a yet bigger league. With &amp;quot;Black Sands&amp;quot; Bonobo has made the progressive record to achieve it.

Rapture's back for the last party of the academic year and we've got a stomping line up to set you up for the summer.
Brookes Brothers much awaited return to the rapture stage is finally here. These guys played at our first ever venture into Mine's wooden cave and boy did they cause a storm! Since then they have been locked away working on their new album due for release in JULY 2010! Expect a mix of rolling basslines and sweet vocal tracks that will please any entity.
Cluekid started listening to grime and the age of 16 and link up with partner Cotti which set up the foundations for his dubstep success. After many release with Cotti on various labels Cluekid started some solo productions as well collaborating
with other artist such as Skream &amp;amp; LD. Cluekid has been pushing the jungle influenced dubstep which is becoming increasing popular
within the scene. Cluekid&amp;rsquo;s mixing is also as big as his ambitions, with shows all over Europe and headlining tours as far away as Australia, dubz cut and huge bass lines makes his live shows unmissable.
Furlonge makes his long awaited leeds debut. With a trolly of releases under his belt, and lot's of new material coming out very soon on Viper, you'll soon find out why this talented producer is gaining respect from all the big names in the scene.

<title>Foamo vs. Lee Mortimer present Superman - 22 May 10</title>
<link>http://www.leedstickets.com/eventinfo/2100/Foamo-vs-Lee-Mortimer-present-Superman</link>
<description>Lee Mortimer is fast becoming the hottest DJ of the moment with his unique take on bass-fuelled house music. Some call it fidget house, a label which accurately describes this heavy sound but as Lee is keen to point out &amp;lsquo;anything sleazy, electronic and above all else, BIG(!) will make it into my sets!&amp;rsquo; These sets are getting bigger too with jaunts around the world playing clubs as far a field as Singapore (Club Zirca) and Australia (HQ/Revolver) where he will soon be an underground superstar. He also played most of the UK festivals last year with a storming turn at Bestival which had the crowd going mental in the middle of the day!
Kye Gibbon is a fresh-faced producer and DJ from High Wycombe, going by the name of Foamo. Here&amp;rsquo;s another up-and-comer banging out tasty wobbly basslines and fidgety beats and has rightly received alot of attention from the likes of MSTRKRFT, Drop The Lime, Crookers and Kissy Sell Out.
Since the age of 13 Foamo has immersed himself in the garage, dubstep, jungle/d&amp;rsquo;n&amp;rsquo;b, hip hop and grime scenes. With all these influences combined, Foamo has crafted his own category of electro that often revolves around a filthy bassline and kinetic beats.

-	More bands being added and more announcements to
come all throughout Feb and March 2010
-	SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL this year happening over 2 days at 2 sites in London and then Leeds
-	Dates are Saturday 29th May (London) and Sunday 30th May (Leeds)
-	Over 10,000 capacity, the festivals highest ever
-	40+ bands to play/be announced over 7 stages
May 2010 bank holiday weekend sees the annual return of SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL, one of the most exciting and popular new festivals in the UK. This year however, it&amp;rsquo;s gotten even bigger and better. With the major success of the last 4 years, this year the festival takes the giant step of doubling in size. Because of its popularity, the Leeds site and format remains unchanged, though the festival grows with the addition of another site, this time in London, the day before.
After much research, a suitable site for the London date has been found at the Hatfield Campus of The Univesity Of Hertfordshire. This is just north of London, with a 21 minute direct train from Kings Cross, and being on a junction of the A1, it has excellent transport routes. The site allows the same capacity and format as Leeds, so the festival now has the capacity of 10,000 people over the 2 days. The same bands will play both days, which are:
Saturday 29th May: &amp;lsquo;Slam Dunk Festival South&amp;rsquo;, University of Hertfordshire
7 stages, 5000 capacity
Sunday 30th May: &amp;lsquo;Slam Dunk Festival North&amp;rsquo;, Leeds University
7 stages, 5000 capacity
Over 40 bands will play both days
Festival Promoter Ben Ray says &amp;lsquo;I am extremly pleased that the success of previous years has allowed me to launch Slam Dunk South which allows even more people to get the chance to see so many quality bands.  I think people enjoy the fact that it isn&amp;rsquo;t just one or two big stages and instead people can move freely between 7 stages, all with music they like, and see everyone from large international bands to great new UK talent. I really think I owe a lot to the small upcoming UK bands!&amp;rsquo;
